One of the first things new Florida Gulf Coast University volleyball coach Dave Nichols wanted to change was the color of the shirts of seniors Ana Kokanovic and Roberta Santos from white and blue with a small splash of green to simply red.

Women's basketball: FGCU picked fifth in Atlantic Sun preseason polls

Atlantic Sun coaches and media both selected ETSU to capture its second consecutive conference title on Wednesday. Kennesaw State senior forward Britteny Henderson, the 2008 Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, earned the same honor for the 2008-09 preseason. Florida Gulf Coast University was picked fifth in each poll.

Men's basketball: FGCU picked ninth in preseason A-Sun polls

Three-time Atlantic Sun Conference men's basketball champion Belmont was named the preseason pick by both coaches and media to win their second straight regular-season title, as well as a fourth straight conference championship on Wednesday. Florida Gulf Coast University was picked to finish ninth in the 11-team league by both the coaches and media.

Men's golf: FGCU wins Mission Inn Collegiate Classic

The Florida Gulf Coast University men's golf team won its first tournament of the fall, firing a final-round 277 to beat 14 other teams in the Mission Inn Collegiate Classic on Sunday at El Campeon in Howey-in-the-Hills.
