Maria Chapa knew something ailed her body. She felt pain in her breasts. One of her aunt’s died in February from breast cancer. Another aunt, in her 60s now, has battled it on and off for more than a dozen years. “I’m scared,” Chapa says sitting on a beige leather sofa dressed in a pink sweater and a white eyelet skirt. She’s headed to church with her husband, Isaac Hernandez, also dressed in a pink shirt. Full story »
