The Florida Gulf Coast University men’s and women’s cross country teams finished 16th and 22nd, respectively, at the Walt Disney World Cross Country Classic on Saturday in Lake Buena Vista.
For the men, Kyle Brunette once again led the way, placing 56th overall in 27:02.90. Joshua Brooks was 97th in 27:53.40, followed by Richard Black (131st, 28:31.90), Alexander Stoermer (145th, 28:47.60), and Tyler Boban (149th, 28:55.10).
Barron Collier graduate Chris Jacob, running for Nova Southeastern, was 192nd in 30:06.90.
Windsor (Ontario) won the meet, followed by Florida, Embry-Riddle, and Kennesaw State, in the Atlantic Sun as FGCU is, was fourth. There were 38 teams competing.
For the women, Megan Thies was 74th overall in 19:29.40, followed by Christina Baird (132nd, 20:43.20), Ashley Williams (195th, 21:56.30), Marie Scarpantonio (197th, 22:02.80), and Stacy Banbury (202nd, 22:11.60).
St. John Neumann graduate Ali Gardino, running for Florida Southern, was 119th in 20:28.20.
UAB won the 44-team meet, followed by Windsor, South Florida, Tampa and Houston. Campbell of the Atlantic Sun was 12th.
